For comparison's sake.
If I am wishing for a nicer home, do I compare myself to the very small percent of the world's population who are wealthy and have dream homes or do I compare myself to the world's very large percent who live in conditions that would flip me out if I had to live like that....?
When we are feeling low and loser like, it's usually because we have some pretty distorted perspective.
If I am feeling like I wish I had a better education do I compare myself to all the people who have Ivy league educations, again, a very small amount; or the majority of the world's population who don't have an opportunity to go to school?
If we want what they have, we need to think about the what the majority have....
If I am feeling bad about my body, who do I compare myself to? How about all the sick and unhealthy people in hospitals, nursing homes and institutions full and overflowing ~ some who have no hope of getting well?
It goes on and on, if I am feeling like being a mom is tough and burdensome, do I compare myself to the barren woman who can't have children?
If we compare ourselves using the right perspective, we will always be blessed beyond measure.
If we have clean, hot and/or cold water coming out of a faucet in the morning, we are blessed. It's all in how we look at it....isn't it?
The key to feeling better when we are feeling low is being thankful.Try it and see what happens.
