When I mess up, it is what I do with it that matters.
If I take responsibility for my mistake, that is great, but sometimes, I just don't want to admit it.If I can face the truth, humble myself and ask God to forgive me, that is usually the beginning of my growth as a person and a Christian. If I apologize when necessary (that is always tough) then I have really made progress, but that isn't always the case!
I mess up a lot and sometimes it is simply having a bad attitude or it could be something I am truly ashamed of.
The key for me is to ask God to forgive me and if there is another person involved, I need to ask for their forgiveness too...God's love is not based upon our performance but on our faith in Christ. He sees our heart. Our only job is to acknowledge our mistakes, acknowledge Him, talk to God and rely upon His strength instead of ours.

The point is--we all make mistakes but it is what we do with it that will help us or harm us. God loves us as we are and He forgives us when we ask.

The main thing to know is nothing is un-forgivable, nothing. God is there waiting for us to ask for His help.
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9
