Who Are You?

Did you know that when you become a believer in Christ you have the ability to stand before God blameless?

Does that feel weird?

It does to me.

I was raised in a home with a lot a legalism and I mistakenly believed God only loved me when I was good and that I needed to be perfect in order for Him to hear my prayers or pay attention to me.

So, because I am not perfect and never will be, I have always felt this huge distance between me and God. This distance was was real until I placed my faith in Christ's blood to save me because the bible says my belief in Jesus reconciles me to God...but sadly, I still sometimes feel the distance.

As a Christ follower, I want intimacy with God. I want to know Him and I want to have a relationship with Him. And the truth is--through Christ I can have it. But if I don't believe it, what do I really have? If I still think God is unapproachable or someone who doesn't want anything to do with me and doesn't care about me unless I perform perfectly, then I just have this God in my mind who only loves me sometimes and mostly never. God resolved the problem through sending Jesus but my mind has to follow through believing in His word.

When l believe the truth that Christ's shed blood is the key to God's acceptance of me and He desires a relationship with me, then that means I can go to God anytime of the day or night, talk to Him about anything and ask Him to help me with whatever it is I am struggling with that day. 

I can even ask Him to bless me with what it is I am trying to achieve in my life. Aren't blessings part of being His children? Being a child of God is like being born in a palace with a King for your father. There are a lot of privileges!

He's God, and we are His children. 

So, it boils down to this. What do I believe...the truth or a lie.

Jesus alone is what bridges the gap between me and God.

Today I choose to believe I am holy and blameless as I stand before God without a single fault because of what Jesus alone did for me.

Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News.
