I am fifty-eight years old and in 1976, the year I graduated high school, I had never heard of an anti depressant drug.
Three years prior to my graduation, the Roe v Wade law was passed by the Supreme Court in 1973.
Fast forward forty years…60 million abortions have been performed in a nation of 350 million people. Let us not forget than an abortion involves more than one person; there is always a boyfriend or husband or a mother or father rallying for the termination of the unwanted child, and definitely a doctor, nurse and a few staff at the clinic or doctors office. I think we could conservatively say that one abortion represents at least three people and probably more. If you do the math, that is 180 million people involved in the murder of 60 million innocent children.
Is it any wonder that over half the population of America is depressed?
Is it any surprise that more women are treated for depression?
Having a baby is still one of THE happiest moments in our lives and we celebrate with flowers and balloons and parties and pictures and we celebrate it every single year thereafter...with a birthday to mark the momentous occasion. Greeting cards offer a large section celebrating the birth of a child.
How could the opposite of the celebration of life, the murdering of the lives of innocent children not be one of the saddest moments in our lives? And something we will never forget? And furthermore, something that would cause depression and continue to cause it throughout a lifetime? We really can’t have it both ways, can we?
And guess what? The anti-depressants aren’t working.
We are a nation that is depressed over our sin and over our choices.
Sin causes depression.

Repentance is our only answer.
A nation that has sinned and keeps sinning has only one choice and that is to get down on our knees and ask God to forgive us for murdering our future friends, leaders, athletes, musicians, artists, scientists, teachers and yes, our very own children who could have…yes, would have been a blessing and a gift.
