Weakday Wisdom: What Is In Your Heart?

The mouth speaks what the heart is full of.....

I think that I must really need to get this point across to myself because I keep running across these scriptures that talk about what we say, what comes out of our mouth--my mouth.

For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.
Matthew 12:34

Our words show what is in our hearts.

The mouth speaks the things that are in our heart.

Did you know that life and death is in the power of the tongue?

The tongue can bring death or life. Proverbs 18:21

When you are talking or someone is talking to you, it's the "words" said and heard that are so important. Words have so much power.

God created all of creation...with his words....

Think about this...

We can make a large horse go wherever we want by a small bit in its mouth. And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn even if the winds are strong. In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches.
But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.
People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth.
James 3:10

I know I for sure need to work on what comes out of my mouth.

AND I know it is a challenge everyday---but I also know that God can help me!
