Pray about what you want.
Ask God if it is the right thing for you.
Okay, so I did that, I prayed, I told God what I wanted like a child talking to my father and He said no.
Hmmm.
Now, what do I do.
I often ask God to help me stay on the right path--to lead me and guide me.
But there is this one path that I keep looking at and wanting to check out
(and I can't understand why He would say no!)
(and I can't understand why He would say no!)
Do you remember when you were a kid and your parents were driving you somewhere in the car?
Like maybe going on a vacation or they were taking you to a place you had never been?
You were in the backseat totally fine and content. You knew they knew where they were taking you. You could relax and play a game or sing a song or look out the window because they were driving.

I am pretty sure at this point you know where I am going with this story.
I am having a hard time sitting in the back seat not speaking up and telling God where to drive me. I am having a hard time not speaking up to say "turn here!" or "let's check that out!" or whatever.....
But if He's God and if He's got a plan and we've already been told in the scriptures that it's a good plan, then what's my problem?

Proverbs 20:24 (3 different versions)
The Lord has determined our path; how then can anyone understand the direction his own life is taking?
How can we know what will happen to us when the Lord alone decides?
The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?
How lucky are we to have a God who cares about the road we are on and someone who will lead us and instruct us....someone who will actually keep us from falling in a hole. I don't want to fall in a hole today or get stuck in the mud, or have to stop and change a flat tire?
Do you?
So we need to listen to that voice......HIS voice, even when it's real soft and even when we don't particularly like what He is telling us!
Hmmmm, that other path sure is tempting.
God Puhhhlease, help me to stay on the road you want me on.

Isaiah 30:21 (different versions)
If you wander off the road to the right or the left, you will hear his voice behind you saying, “Here is the road. Follow it.”
If you turn to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice saying, “This is the road! Now follow it.”
Your own ears will hear him.
Right behind you a voice will say,
“This is the way you should go,”
whether to the right or to the left.
And in the meantime, sing a song, look out the window at the beautiful view coz riding in the backseat means we get to do that! I know this sounds cheesy, but seriously we have a lot to be thankful for along the way.
