I have been thinking a lot lately about the people who influence us.
My son will be leaving for college in a few months and I have tried very hard to prepare him.
However, the truth is, who he chooses for his friends will definitely affect his future.
To be foolish is to be un-wise.
To be foolish is described as not listening, going your own way.
And to be "fooled" is to be led astray.
We can be foolish or we can be fooled, but the outcome is the same.

Consider this....
Do not be fooled. “Bad companions ruin good character.”
1 Corinthians 15:33This seems to tell me that I can be good and hang around the wrong people and they will ruin me. I won't bring them up to my standards, they will bring me down.
It does a fool no good to spend money on an education, because he has no common sense.
Proverbs 17:16This doesn't say don't spend money if I am smart, it says don't spend money on a fool.... and a fool is what is described below, so that can be anybody, it's been me many times!
This is pretty eye opening and important information!
Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.
Proverbs 12:15
I know college kids are notorious for being a little edgy and doing things that don't make sense and getting into trouble sometimes.
But these are truths that will go with us forever.
Even who we choose for our friends as we get older is important.
It is something to take serious everyday of our lives, but especially when we are starting out in life.
When no one is around to tell us what to do and there are no parents to guide us, who we choose for our friends will make a huge difference.
